A recurring look at what's happening at Shanghai's art galleries:
1. Fireworks
This group exhibition focuses on Magda Danysz Gallery’s expertise in video art, street art and Chinese art. Internationally acclaimed artists JR and Yi Zhou will share space with top Chinese artists like Hua Tunan (pictured), Li Hongbo, Huan Rui, Shi Ningfang and more.

2. Xu Zhen Store Opening
The Shanghai art enfant terrible was celebrated for the first anniversary of mega-museum Long Museum West Bund and his MadeIn Collective has opened a gallery in the rising art hub. However, they follow up their fake convenience store by opening up a retail shops where limited edition sculptures, paintings, clothing and home furnishings from the MadeIn Company are available.

3. Austin Lee: Light Paintings
Formerly located in a historic gem on the dark side of the Bund, BANK toasts its new home on Anfu Lu with this solo exhibition from the New York based artist known for mixing digital techniques and a sense of humor for colorful works.

4. Osang Gwon: The Sculpture
The celebrated South Korean artist gets celebrated at Arario Gallery in just his second solo exhibition in Chinese mainland Classic works like his Deodarant Type series (pictured above) that introduced his ‘photo-sculptures’ style will share space with his recent experiments with sculpture. The third floor of Arario will be transformed into a replica of Osang’s Seoul studio. Opens on November 7 at 5pm.

5. West Bund Art + Design Fair 2016
The budding cultural corridor of the West Bund celebrates the third edition of this international art fair, welcoming 31 leading contemporary galleries from around the world. Highlights include the first large scale exhibition from pop art master Alexander Katz (see cover image, running from Nov 7-13) and the opening of ShanghART’s West Bund gallery with the group exhibition, Holzwege (see above, running from Nov 10-Feb 15).

6. Gu Wenda: Journey to the West
The renowned Shanghainese artist takes over Minsheng 21st Century Art Museum (m21) with his largest solo exhibition in the past 40 years. Around 300 pieces from his iconic career like his well-known experimental ink and wash paintings, as well as large-scale installations will be featured. Journey to the West reflects Gu’s recent turn towards participatory art and includes the exceedingly ambitious Red Light in Heaven (pictured above) where the exterior of the museum will be covered in red lanterns.
